He was a staunch Socialist politically and I think he thought Russia was going places. They starved and he returned to Germany. Upon seeing Hitler speak in the town square the mid 30's, he determined he'd seen enough, and made arrangements to come to America. Here he became an die cutter and later engineer for Ford.

He worked both here and for Ford Australia.
