GenVec shares rise on narrower 4th-quarter loss

INDIANAPOLIS -- Shares of GenVec Inc. climbed Friday, a day after the biopharmaceutical company said its fourth-quarter loss narrowed as revenue grew slightly and research expenses fell.

The Gaithersburg, Md., company said it lost $4.3 million, or 4 cents per share, compared with a loss of $6.4 million, or 7 cents per share, in the final quarter of 2008. Revenue rose to $3.4 million from $3.3 million.
