I guess it would be ok, as long as you got some caraway flavor into it somehow. Port is a fortified wine, usually drank as an apertif or a dessert wine with cheese. Much stronger than regular wine but not as strong as liquor. It has brandy added to it to not spoil.

I would recomend a cheap tawny or ruby port. Should be about $8-10 for a 1.5 litre.
