all in all i think many biotechs could take a page or two from ZGEN when it comes to negotiating deals

I completely agree - that one of the things at which ZGEN is world class is negotiating deals. Negotiations on big contracts has been one of my job functions and it is amazing how many people, even very senior managers, are disfunctional wrt negotiating (probably the two most common disfunctions are: a) overvaluing your own hand (and that all important subset of understanding the importance of competitive bids), b) believing you can't have 'won' unless the other guy 'lost', ...)

actually they got 200M for getting to start of phase 2

Yeah, I wrote 70+M because I couldn't remember the exact $ and exact set of milestones (since it wasn't all just one milestone payment).
