smartone-I know your comment "that if I can really do the 3-5% a month I should have a newsletter" was meant as a complement and I appreciate it. However, it also hit a nerve. I have been posting on this board and others since Aug 2005. At the beginning I was really intimidated by the "gurus" who could tell you to the penny where the market was going tomorrow and to the dollar next month. What folly and waste of brain power. Hugh fights would breakout and posts got very personal, and they are still going on. I was so put off that as I started to develop my own market psychology I came up with the phrase, "follow the charts and not the heart". There is still plenty of room to be wrong even following the charts, but at least not for long and not too costly. I just loved guys that would rail each night about how oversold the market was and all they while they were losing a ton on their shorts. Most of the time when the market really explodes up, it is these guys who have finally had enough and are buying to cover their shorts.

There were a few guys however, who did figure the market out and got very good. They usually fell into one of two camps. In one camp, their methods became proprietary but they loved to post their trades. Eventually they opened a web service and started charging. The other camp just went away to make their money and not be distracted by posting.

I am really hoping to start a third camp and I am doing my best. What I really would like to see is a group of people like myself that are doing shorter term trading (not day trading) who are sharing their ideas. I have developed my way of making money and have shared them, but there is just an endless way of doing it. I'm sure my method can be improved on and I would love to add other strategies also. I have no interest in starting a web site, but I do have a great interest in becoming a "guru", ha! 5% a month sounds like a good target for such a definition, but maybe it will take 10%. The QLD part of my portfolio is looking pretty good this month, I am up 8% just based on QLD. Too bad OG is dragging my down a bit.

I'm starting to feel like Glenn Beck here. But these are just feelings that have been building up in me for years. Feels good to get them out. Here I am ranting again. Got to stop this, it takes too much time.
