I was talking to a guy at lunch who indicated he worked for Barclays Bank and that Barclays was looking to acquire a US bank, preferably a mid tier bank (regional or sub-regional - eg. US Bank) and he really liked the network that WAMU had established which he stated would fit Barlcays model perfectly. He indicated "they" (I presumed the "they" he meant Barclays) was "aware" of, and interested in, the affairs of WAMU. To what extent or level of interest - I have no idea, as the discussion ended. I, personally don't see what the interest would be, however!
