Hi Belgie: I think the other two were on a stimulant: caffeine. I really don't know. But I don't think that gaining weight makes you a better hitter. Barry Bonds is just one heck of a hitter, always has been; Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz too. Guys who hit .330, .340 year after year don't do it because they've gained weight. Perhaps their home-runs traver further once they clear the fences. I gained 5 lbs. one year and my average only went up 7 points and I didn't hit ANY home runs.
