Just how big is VALE's claim around Lucky?
All the yellow and orange areas are VALE's and I think it's safe to say they are very, very serious about what was found at Lucky - basically they came in and took the lot! I have circled KAT Exploration's Lucky North and Lucky South claims in purple. The other small cluster of three claims to the south are in the name of Elizabeth Freeman, claimed 30th October 2009 - that's prior to Lucky North which was claimed 19th November 2009 (Lucky South was claimed much earlier in March 2009 in Ken Stead's own name). I cannot find anything about her on Google. Other than our two claims and Freeman's three claims, VALE swept up the lot.
One important point which I think has been at least somewhat overlooked is that the excellent sample results that were announced in November refer to South Lucky. North Lucky has had very little work done on it as yet to my knowledge...
South Lucky Copper
Copper mineralization is quite visible in an old pit near the gravel road and impressive malachite staining along with chalcocite is strata bound within the more sandy beds of the sediments. The horizon that hosts the mineralization has been traced for approx. 17kms with copper mineralization at a thickness of 300ft in places and assay results of 2.5% Cu has been discovered in exposed areas in the pit from within this horizon. This type of environment has the potential to produce low grade, large tonnage copper deposits similar to those of the Zambia copper belt.
To secure an area of interest the company recently staked 1225 acres of new land mass where some recent grab samples produced copper results of .5% along with anomalous gold.
More ground work is planned for the Northern portion of the property where the most recent copper occurrences were discovered. More ground work is planned for the Northern portion of the property in the upcoming season.
