10 years later, people still finding wisdom in those words.

So, I guess, since then, I've said fuckall that was memorable. Oh well, I guess it is hard to top.

My daughter has a school trip planned to got to "L'Usine de l'arc en ciel" loosely translated "the rainbow factory". I signed the permission slip Monday I think.

So last night at dinner, she asks me, what do they do at the rainbow factory? I don't know, never heard of it. Maybe they make paint or dyes or buckets of gold to put at the end of rainbows. Who knows?

So this morning, she's off school, no school on Wednesdays for the kids, and I said, lets look it up on the internet.

OK, right, there it is. Hmm home page not very informative, doesn't say what they do just that they give tours to schools. So I click on "primary" school tours, and the hour tour is laid out.

First part of the educational tour is "the history of garbage". huh? what?

I told her she is going to visit a recycling center. "A what?" A garbage dump.

The Rainbow Factory, sheesh. Sounds like an interesting place to go for the kids until they find out they'll be spending an hour looking at and talking about garbage.

The guy that came up with the name is a fucking genius.

I can see the partners sitting in the back room one day of Jim and Bob's Waste Renewal....
"Bob, we have to do something, we're going under. People keep dumping all kinds of unrecyclable shit in the recycle bins and we have to keep hiring more and more people to manual sort all this crap, and what we turn out isn't paying the bills. What are we gonna do?"

"Well, Joe, I was at this seminar on rebranding. Sometimes it's not what you do, but what you name is. We need to rebrand. Let me think... I got it! Lets change the name to 'The Rainbow Factory' and give schools tours through the rubbish. It'll be great, what kid is going to complain about going to the rainbow factory?"
