From what I understand the only notes being replaced are the notes with 3 zeros.
Here is what I think is about to happen:
1. They will announce the revaluation of the Iraqi Dinar to 1 dinar = $1 or more.
2. At the same time they will announce that new lower denominations are being introduced at that time.
3. They will also announce that the higher denominations will now be removed from circulation and will be done by the end of 2010.
4. Both the new lower denominations and the higher denominations will be in circulation at the same time and there will not be 2 separate values placed upon them.
5. So if a new 1 dinar note = $1 then the 25,000 dinar note will = $25,000
The notes that are to be removed (the removal of the zeros)
will be:
25,000
10,000
5,000
1,000
The new notes/coins to be introduced may be the following:
1/10th dinar
1/4 dinar
1/2 dinar
1 dinar
5 dinar
10 dinar
So to answer your post yes I think the 50 dinar will remain BUT I think all the dinar is safe and all will be redeemed at the soon to be revalued rate that will be at or near 1 IQD = $1
IMHO
Go DINAR!~
