It is quite common for a geologist/explorer to joint venture with a mineral explorer (drilling company) or mining company to develop a property, very rarely does one company go from exploration to working mill. It seems to becoming more of a specialized industry.

There are many times however when the geologist/explorer will hire the drilling company and they remain as the operator of a project, depending on circumstance.
