Check it out. This is the best clarification I got!

Dear John,

Two weeks ago I met Dean Bradley in Hamburg at a Tigerfish meeting.
Years ago I have been the VP Sales with Dornier / Fairchild Dornier and to sell the Dornier 228 has been my first job.
In the meantime things have changed, Fairchild Dornier does not exist any more, RUAG has taken over the Type Certificate of the Dornier 228 in 2003.
Due to a lot of inquiries for new aircraft, RUAG decided in 2007 to relaunch the Dornier 228 New Generation. When you relaunch an aircraft you change all the outdated equipment. That's what RUAG has done. More than 200 improvements are part of the new Do 228 NG, the main ones are a TPE331-10 engine (the old one was TPE331-5), a new five blade propeller and a glass cokpit. The aircraft is now complete digital.
Roll out of the Do 228 NG was on 12.11.2009, in the meantime flight test is nearly finsihed, the first new aircraft is nearing completion and will be delivered in the third quarter to Japan.
Saxon Rudduck, Director Tigerfish Australia, has this great idea of retractable floats. He has been at RUAG last year and presented his ideas. RUAG is interested, but can only assist in engineering after the Do 228 NG is certified and delivered. Tigerfish has identified the Do 228 NG as a good potential to prove the concept. The aircraft has more than two tons of payload (about 650 kg will be lost for the floats), still good enough for 15 passengers and it has a good range and good climb gradient with the retractable floats.
Not knowing your background I wounder what sort of information may be helpful for you.
There is a Do 228 NG specification with all details. Please let me know if I shall send it.

Best regards
