Cool it guys, this is not an RD drug, it functions as a vasodilator perhaps reducing lung injury in certain low blood flow states.
Angiotensin converting enzyme 2 (ACE2)'s, main function is to cleave the key peptide Ang II to create Ang(1-7) which has the opposite functions of the usually harmful angiotensin (a longer chain peptide) which constricts blood vessels, raises blood pressure and increase smooth muscle growth ( all very bad in vascular biology). Traditional blood pressure therapy uses simpler compounds: ACE-I and ARB's to block the vasoconstriction in high blood pressure from angiotensin.
