FTGX- FiberNet Telecom Inks Deal for Optical Wavelength Services

Thursday , December 02, 2004 11:40 ET

Dec 02, 2004 (TELECOMWORLDWIRE via COMTEX) --FiberNet Telecom Group Inc., a provider of managed network services, today announced an agreement with Infonet Services Corporation to obtain optical wavelength services and other comprehensive broadband connectivity solutions.

The agreement calls for FiberNet to supply Infonet with a 2.5 Gigabit wavelength to interconnect its points-of-presence within major carrier hotels in New York City and New Jersey. FiberNet will also distribute and exchange Infonet's traffic with other carriers within key carrier hotels.

Additionally, Infonet will utilize FiberNet's network construction services to build fiber lateral entrance facilities into its New Jersey network node.

By providing these network services, FiberNet said it will help Infonet extend the reach of its World Network, accessible from more than 180 countries and 3,000 cities around the world.

FiberNet's wavelength services enable carriers to design and operate their own high-capacity networks without having to build or acquire fiber. Carrier and enterprise customers can use FiberNet's wavelength services to ensure network diversity and redundancy, extend geographic reach, connect multiple regional access hubs and to quickly add capacity to existing network routes.
