Same thing as Ukraine as far as basic production possibly different in implementation due to the difference in the two countries.
The people are not that much better off considering the money that is pouring into Georgia from the West. Most or all of this money is going toward that which the West considers conducive to its needs such as training and building Georgia’s military. Yet if a country does not elect the candidate preferred by the West, no matter how good the elected official is, the West can squeeze the country to death. This is blackmail.
These elected presidents and prime ministers are figureheads who owe there allegiance to the United States therefore the requirements of the United States will be considered sometimes to the detriment of the country.
Here are three texts regarding Georgia, but remember because this is Bush’s boy you won’t hear much criticism.
Saakashvili is apparently taking care of Bush’s business and letting the country slide. This be the danger of an ‘orchestrated’ election. #msg-3789673 #msg-3641789
Yet, despite the warm reception they gave the young Georgian leader, PACE delegates issued a number of warnings. A report on the functioning of democratic institutions in Georgia debated after Saakashvili addressed the assembly raises concerns at recent political developments in that country.
"The assembly notes its concern about the current reshaping of Georgian political life and the risk of a disappearance of all parliamentary opposition after the forthcoming elections and, in consequence, of any true institutional counterweight," reads a resolution adopted at the end of a one-hour debate. http://www.rferl.org/features/features_article.aspx?id=223D2379-F6CF-4D37-962C-FF6B7D8ACDF9&m=1&....
The bigger question is are countries better off with a pseudo democracy whose president and prime minister answer to a foreign country in this case Bush?
This cannot be considered progress, the requirements of the country in question will many times be subordinate to that of the United States.
Elected officials should put the needs of their country first, this I do not believe is possible when the West or even the East is the real power behind the throne.
No the people will not be better off.
This is going on all over the world, in its scope and in some aspects this is worse than Iraq.
