Brightness, you may also remind people that in Europe and most of the world, consumers pay about 3 to 4 times as much for gas then here (of course, distances are somewhat smaller). I long ago suggested that all imported crude should be priced at $35/barrel, with the difference between market prices and $35/barrel being a duty which would assure that the Canadian shales are developed and that renewable sources from bio mass and corn can be cost effective. No wonder the Saudi want to keep the cost of crude under $30/barrel, they will lose the market if prices above that are sustained.
