OT Re: "We were a Republic (rule of law), nowhere in the Declaration of Independance or The Constitution is a mention of Democracy. "

Definition of republic:

1) a state in which the supreme power rests in the body of citizens entitled to vote and is exercised by representatives chosen directly or indirectly by them.

Definition of democracy:

1) government by the people; a form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under a free electoral system.

2) a state having such a form of government: The United States and Canada are democracies.

Both have alternatives, but these are the most applicable to the usage in question.

Fairly clearly the US meets both definitions (though one could argue that be before the 17th we were not a true democracy, but the 17th is part of the Constitution).

You and Neil Boortz are somewhere between nit-picking and just plain wrong.
