Looks like you may yet get what you want. Just be careful though. The Republicans have already established a behavior of supporting something, and then voting against it once Obama puts the backing of the Whitehouse behind it.

That was the case of the bipartisan effort to reduce spending. The Republicans voted against the creation of a committee to reduce spending, even after cosigning the bill to set up such a committee. So Obama created one anyway by executive order - one of the few things he has the privilege of the executive office to do.

How would you like it if the Dems offered a bill for a tax holiday, and the Republicans fillibustered just to defeat Obama? I bet it would frustrate you, wouldn't it?
