Edit: Rick Berman Attacks the Humane Society
Anne Landman .. February 17, 2010

Front group man extraordinaire Rick Berman and his attack group, the Center for Consumer Freedom (CCF), have
launched a new Web site, HumaneWatch.org, to harass the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the
country's largest animal welfare organization. In pursuing its mission of stopping animal cruelty, HSUS
has apparently run afoul of some large, wealthy business interests, and now it is getting some major pushback. .. cont. ..

A more compassionate world

Human communities are only as healthy as our conceptions of human nature. It has long been assumed that selfishness, greed, and competitiveness lie at the core of human behavior, the products of our evolution. It takes little imagination to see how these assumptions have guided most realms of human affairs, from policy making to media portrayals of social life.

But clearly, recent scientific findings forcefully challenge this view of human nature. We see that compassion is deeply rooted in our brains, our bodies, and in the most basic ways we communicate. What"s more, a sense of compassion fosters compassionate behavior and helps shape the lessons we teach our children.

Of course, simply realizing this is not enough; we must also make room for our compassionate impulses to flourish.

Do the Tea Party people, it's affiliates and the 'bheads' give expression to the deep rooted compassionate nature of theirs? NO.

As is demonstrated by a wealth of historical examples, every form of fanaticism, every dogma and every type of compulsive one-sidedness is finally overthrown by precisely those elements which it has itself repressed, suppressed, or ignored

The shadow, which is in conflict with the acknowledged values, cannot be accepted as a negative part of one's own psyche and is therefore projected--that is, it is transferred to the outside world and experienced as an outside object. It is combated, punished, and exterminated as 'the alien out there' instead of being dealt with as one's own inner problem

Repression leads to anger ..

To be sure, the language was threatening.

Quote:"Gestapo-like tactics."
"The IRS is out of control!"

"Which would you prefer: having your wallet or purse stolen or being audited by the IRS?"

"You don't need to send in armed personnel in flak jackets."

"Well Mr. Big Brother IRS Man, let's try something different, take my pound of flesh and sleep well."

But even more disturbing is that only the last of those five statements came from Thursday's alleged Austin pilot, Joseph Stack. The rest came from some of the leading voices of the Republican Party during its late 1990's crusade against the IRS. [ Behind I.R.S. Hearings, a G.O.P.
