Since I'm part of that older generation, I won't disagree with you but I'd like to put some perspective to it:
#1 - The new/X/Y generation have to work two jobs just to make ends meet (assuming they can find them given the economic implosion), and usually even that is not enough. So the kids grow up without the supervision of their parents as both are working their ass off. That was not the case for the older generation where just one income was more than enough while the wife/mother stayed at home to raise the kids. Salaries/jobs are not as good as they were and money does not go as far.
#2 - The old generation has taken their social security, medicare and left both empty for the next generation while taking advantage of the advancements in medicine to live longer than ever. The new/X/Y generation will not have the luxury of either social security or medicare even though they have been paying ever increasing funds into them (much more than what the old generation ever paid into it), and money that most likely will never see.
#3 - The old generation polluted the planet air/ground/seas (that the new generation is now being asked to pay to clean up).
The fact is that I feel sorry for the new/X/Y generation as they come into this world with all the good jobs gone requiring ever increasing levels of education, the planet polluted, social security/medicare depleted, and their future looking bleaker than ever, yet they are being asked to pay more and more to support the old generation that had all the good jobs, polluted the planet, and used all the social security/medicare money.
As I said, just putting some perspective with the new & old generations and that kid screaming while the young mother being too dazed to do anything about it. And I don't think they should be called the ME people. They should be called the DAZED & CONFUSED people.
