New York: Toyota Tacoma recall: Toyota recalls 8,000 Tacoma trucks. Motor giant Toyota’s recall drive is not coming to an end. It looks that the company that has an impeccable image in the industry, is passing through a crisis. Now, it wants to recall some 8,000 four-wheel-drive Tacoma trucks from North America. The executives at the company say the decision has been taken after it guessed a potential production defects. They say the problem is arising in the front drive shaft of certain 2010 models.
Auto experts are of the opinion that the company’s image in the market would be hurt. This is not one off incident. Its problem started six months back when it had recalled a large number of its vehicle due to default in gas pedal. The company which has a glorious past was criticized for letting its quality slip in hope of penetrating new regions. The company was started at a time when Japan was coming out of World War II.
During that period the automobile industry was dominated by the Americans. But the Japanese company Toyota worked its way up the ladder and in fifty years it became the leader in the industry. But the downward slide of the company has come at a time when the global economy is not in good shape. It is still struggling to come out of recession. And customers have become extremely careful in their spending.
There is no doubt to the fact that Toyota is working overtime to fix the fault. But in the process it is losing trust of its die-hard customers. And many in the automobile industry say that the recall drive would cost the company dearly in the coming days.
However, Toyota has accepted this fact. That is why it said: "Quality is our lifeline for Toyota." Hard times are ahead for the company. Winning customers’ trust would be the most difficult task for the company. It would be interesting to see how it overcomes it.
