It wasn't Fannie & Freddie who were giving out ALT-A loans (aka liar loans) and negative amortization loans (aka TOXIC LOANS) and paying almost twice the bonus to the originators to make sure they got people in them. That was the wall street investment banks. The ones that Republicans took huge money from and fought tooth and nail to DEREGULATE.
