Do you consider Medicare and Social Security and Medicaid part of spending? Do you look at states when you look at spending?

Yes on the first part, and on the second, I figured you meant at the Federal level.

What's your stance with regards to Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security? Do you think it's valuable to have a means of providing income and health benefits for seniors? Do you think our society would have been better off without it?

Assuming you do support it, do you not think it's possible to have a balanced budget along with these entitlements?

The Great Society legislation alone was probably the largest expansion of government spending in history..perhaps of the world, closely followed by Social Security.

Not sure what you mean by Great Society.
