jbog: My take on the inability of the COURAGE study to change medical practice is not that cardiologists are uninterested in evidenced-based medicine, but rather that they interpreted the evidence differently than Dr. Nissen and the study’s authors. Many docs concluded that the high-profile editorials touting COURAGE to support the use of drugs in place of stents unduly emphasized mortality and unduly discounted the adverse impact of chronic chest pain on QoL.
