I think the difference here is the timing of the liquidity flow. Since it is occuring in the beginning of the month, it is less likely to swamp the markets, as that is normally a time of higher inflows (end of month/beginning of month).

If it occured on the 15th of Dec, I think the effect would be much more dramatic.
