The list of some of the 400 persons already subpoenaed by assassinated Prosecutor Danilo Anderson reads like a Who's Who of the Venezuela's radical opposition that sought to overthrow President Hugo Chavez Frias in April 2002.

They are those who flocked to the Miraflores Presidential Palace to sign a decree issued by Dictator Pedro Carmona Estanga after Chavez Frias was whisked away to imprisonment on the Caribbean island of La Orchila where a US military aircraft had already landed ostensibly to whisk him off into ignominious exile as they later did with Haiti's President Aristide.

The Carmona Decree had sought to dissolve the Constitution, the National Assembly (AN) and the Judiciary in one fell swoop ahead of a minimum, 12 months dictatorship that Carmona Estanga subsequently said could be extended to 5-10 years. He was deposed by loyalists before he could do too much damage to Venezuela's new-born democracy and Chavez Frias was returned to legitimate power.
