BUT, I assume, not quite as well, by design, from SUNW. But the real quandary is that Oracle DB must have been the leading DB on all SPARC installations, already.

That means, as you say, Oracle will bleed the SPARC installations down, with no real improvements over the next say, 5-7 years.

That would fit what Larry said. He said that he was cutting out all SUNW "unnecessary" expenses. He must have meant ALL R&D! :)) That must be where he is getting his, "$1.5 billion" accretive income.

If that is the case, SPARC will represent NO [greater] competition to Intel from now on. Maybe indirectly, from IBM converting SPARC installations to, what is it, "System z"?
