The telecom disaster is a prime example of how extraordinary increases in bandwidth at relatively low cost caused the collapse of an industry.

The telecom companies build the core network, but failed to address, due to whatever reason, the access network, the key to the success of broadband phenomenon. Korea succeeded in their broadband vision, but the United States not only failed, but failed miserably.
But make no mistake. Even Microsoft Bill Gates mentioned the fact that there are hundreds of fortune 500 companies that have yet to migrate all their software applications to web based ones. I can understand that he has vested interest, but this fact simply cannot be ignored.
