Hi, Lee. We do not disagree re SS at all. The program was an excellent idea, and would have worked had the government not spent the money coming in and had instead invested it for the long-term, in which case we would not today have a problem with SS. In the beginning, people who had never paid anything into the system received benefits. Now people who have paid in all their working lives may NOT receive benefits. What to do? I do not believe privatization is the answer because if people were good at investing for their future we wouldn't have needed SS in the first place -- it could create an even bigger problem if the money is lost and these old folks end up getting welfare from the government in lieu of the lost SS funds. But at least if it is "privatized" it is my understanding the money would be placed where the government would be unable to spend it, and that right there would be an improvement.
