China's power consumption rose 28 percent in November from a year earlier to 328.4 billion kilowatt-hours as the economic recovery spurred demand.
Consumption in the first 11 months rose 4.8 percent to 3.3 trillion kilowatt-hours, the National Development and Reform Commission said in a statement on its Web site Monday.
China's $586 billion stimulus program and record bank lending have boosted industrial production and energy demand. Power generation in the world's second-biggest energy user climbed at the fastest pace in almost five years in November, data from National Bureau of Statistics showed on Dec. 11.
The country added 69,000 megawatts of power capacity in January to November, including 15,053 megawatts of hydropower and 48,762 megawatts of thermal power capacity, the NDRC said.
