sometimes, I think you can think of Intel as pre-2000 Intel right now. They are still learning.

A tech company that doesn't take chances on new ideas and
new markets is doomed to miss the next big thing. DEC grew
huge and rich on the VAX in the early 80s but was too slow
to embrace the next big thing - RISC computing. The second
biggest computer company in the world 25 years ago is now
nothing more than the answer to a tech trivia question.

The worst possibly thing that Intel could do would be cut
R&D projects and spending and stick to making marginal
improvements to successive generations of PC processors.
