Re: I ask you to remember Sen. John Kerry, and how he ignored the swiftboaters ... not a pretty site.
That's different. Kerry was running for election, and he was ignoring what appeared (to some) like a legitimate attack. He had all he needed to refute it and chastise the partisan critics for attacking his exemplary record - but he didn't, and that's now ancient history.
Palin is not running for office, and she's not attacking anyone running for office. In fact, there's no good reason to cover her any more, because her story has barely changed from the tripe she's been parroting for the past year. The media should be losing interest, but instead, the fire has been fueled by liberal commentators who seem to think they can badmouth her to the point where someone actually changes their opinion on her.
News flash: Sarah is an icon. Those who love her will never change their mind. And furthermore, those who are fed up with her will never change their mind. It's a done deal, and I'm ready for her to fade into the pages of pop culture history, as a temporary and insignificant figure.
But that doesn't happen because she's so absurd that the liberals can't help but cry foul to every little thing she does. But trust me, it won't change a thing, except to give the media more cause to cover her.
By herself, Sarah is a slightly interesting cult leader that says stupid and absurd things. It's not enough for actual fame. But as a center of controversy fueled by liberal outrage, she's a media hit. We have to do our party a favor and stop paying attention to her.
