It seems many in this room are quick to criticize the attempts that have been made to revitalize this economy, and I am trying my best to remain neutral as to whose fault should the blame be place on, the previous administration for getting us into this mess, or the current one for not doing the right things to get us out of it. But just like today's topic of climate change, we all agree that the economy has some serious problems.

As for solutions to fix the economy, many have been tried, some by a conservative administration, as with the original solution to bail out the bad loans of the banks, that got changed to just bailing out the banks. Now the liberal administration has proposed many plans, and again none have really restarted america's growth, or have put many people back to work. But like any problem, and this one appears to bigger than most, unemployment layoffs have come down dramatically, and supposedly the economy has had some growth of late. (Yes it was at a huge cost to the american taxpayer)

My point is Monday morning quarterbacking is easy to do, but actually making the decisions and having them implemented is another thing. To get anything done today, there is much compromising in Washington, alot of hands have got to be greased to get something done. Everyone here in this room is free to either hold a position, or sell a position, we can stay in cash overnight, or hold, we are free to do whatever we decide we want with a flip of the keyboard. But when it comes to the real economy its not that easy.

This economy will turn around, past history has taught us that much, but in this push button age of electronics many will be very unhappy. In the real world things take time, and this turn-around has years to go. Unfortunately there are faster economies out there, China as an example, and thou some might think there numbers are also fudged, lets pray that they can actually grow, and give capitolism a chance to keep going. The alternatives to this problem are just too unbearable to think about.
