WASHINGTON (CBS.MW) -- The U.S. September durable-goods orders report was "not great," said Ian Shepherdson, chief U.S. economist for High Frequency Economics. "The core numbers are not as good as they look," he said, because the 2.6 percent gain in core capital goods orders was inflated by a 35.6 percent rise in always-volatile communications equipment orders. "There is no chance orders can be sustained at their September level," he said.
