Yeah, changing timeframes on a trade is a no-no, and I do it occasionally, too, when I let fear and greed override my better judgment.

On swing trades I usually put my sell and s/l orders in right after my buy fills. Doesn't always work out for the best, but does ensure either losses are cut short or some profits are taken off the table, while not allowing fear and/or greed to interfere with the plan. Also imposes a measure of discipline as it forces me to define my exits (profitable and s/l) when I place the trade, plus once I have placed the trade I can then forget it and pursue others. Works for me, might work for you, too. Good luck.
