Sounds like you had one memorable trip.
When I was a young kid a guy set up some small gauge track in the park going all through it and charged us twenty five cents for a ride around the park.
It was a real stepped down miniature steam locomotive, the fire box used coal or wood chips it was about eight feet long.
At the time I thought that was the coolest thing ever!
