Russian arms exporters have brought more than 100 samples of weapons and military hardware to the Euronaval international exhibition in Paris, RIA-Novosti news agency reports. The exhibits include a submarine, a destroyer, a frigate and a family of corvettes.
In all, the number of Russian arms exporting companies represented at the Euronaval exhibition amounts to 15. They will bring to Paris models of the 956E destroyer, the 11541 Korsar frigate and a family of multipurpose corvettes, including a state-of-the-art 20382 Tiger using stealth technology, the Itar-Tass news agency reports.
Russia’s arms exporter Rosoboronexport will present the Amur 1650 diesel-electric-powered submarine of the 4th generation. The submarine is reported to be superior to all other ships in its class and produces noise levels practically equal to that of the sea.
Rosoboronexport Director General Sergei Chemezov has said that Russia will increase exports of weapons and military hardware in the next few years. Today it has about $12.5 billion orders in its portfolio till 2007.
The expert also said that last year Russia’s exports of military hardware and weapons reached an all-time record high of USD 5.57 billion. Naval weapons and hardware made up 17.6 percent of the exports.
