1) In the spring of 2001 a Canadian trader pointed me to an essay by a verbose gentleman named Adam Hamilton. Mr. Hamilton is, like me, opinionated. Some of the opinions he expressed involved the coming ramp in gold ... and the treacherous state of J P Morgan's derivatives book.

I think Mr. Hamilton was correct. Although I often rail against those who attribute market moves against their personal interest to some form of manipulation, I suspect JPM is shaky and this week's destruction of the price of gold coupled with the sudden, rousing support for the dollar is evidence of governmental intervention to prevent an unspeakable collapse.

a. I hold gold stocks.

b. If my opinion is correct, I'm pleased that there was an intervention. I would, however, like to see the worst of the manipulators whacked.

2) It seems to me we exist in an auditorium of dominoes ... and they've started to fall. What is happening around us is serious and accelerating.

a. I am a bull by nature and inclination ... and I'm long enough stocks to feel considerable pain.

b. My opinion is uneducated, but my own. I try to avoid the televised and printed news (although I can't escape all of it). What I think is based on wisps I pick up here and there and filter through my own personal biases.
