Apparently the Yahoo article is not causing too much stir. The article said that the facts of the patent case before the Supreme Court are not about software. In my opinion extending any court ruling to software patents will entail another series of arguments and debate.

Also, I have been thinking of the Neom IP. Like all inventions, it is a fruit of the mind, an innovative idea. But it is not just an abstract idea, but an idea that bears on a physical process. The act of taking information from the barcode, sending it to a remote computer, which then electronically returns a pointer (such as a URL) to a website that can be viewed by the user - isn't that a physical process? I am not an expert, but in my opinion the Neom IP passes the machine-or-transformation test.
