As I understand the situation, SGCP has a lease on 40k acres of existing forest. The project in that case is an agreement with the U.N. not to log it for the next 10 years. In return, the U.N. has established protocols through the World Bank to give credits on the amount of carbon that forest will absorb. Those credits are sold on exchanges to companies
whose carbon emissions exceed their established caps. Companies like SGCP can
sell their current and future credits(forward sell) at discounts and get the money
as soon as final approval is made by the World Bank. Based on the field report,
I'd say we're close to getting the money.
