Not quite right narvo.
The rationale from the co. viewpoint is that as a company matures without being really successful at anything it usually ends up with a s**t load of stock issued and oodles of disgruntled shareholders and a very low share price.. To get the share price moving up again becomes a REAL problem .. too much stock issued to let it be manipulated easily. Hence a HUGE roll back is done. Now the disgruntled shareholders have less shares and the manipulation can begin again. Chances are the company will continue to be unsuccessful and more and more of the new shares will get rolled out into the market place over time thereby starting the same downward price spiral as was just gone through.
