You gave me a huge clue when you wrote "Tricky Baseball Question." I'm 5/8's to 3/4's to the answer.
===============================================================

G'morning Lee,
you're prolly in enough pain with the drubbing the Bronx Bummers laid upon your beloved Red Sox last evening to give the riddle much thought so I think I'll just spare you from any additional torment by furnishing the answer and in the process, saving myself the 25 bux. <ggg>

The riddle was:

Tricky Baseball Question ....

Three old ladies are at tonight's game. They've never been to a game and are very nervous because the Red Sox desperately need a win.

But just to make the game a little more interesting and to calm their nerves, they bring along a big bottle of Jack Daniels.

It's a really exciting game and the crowd's into it and everybody is having a good time. The little old ladies keep adding Jack Daniels to their colas and are having a wonderful time as the Sox try time and again to start a rally.

There's still almost half of the game left to be played when they notice that they are out of Jack Daniels.

Question: For twenty five bux, what inning is it and how many many men does Boston have on base?

And the correct answer is:

The bottom of the fifth and the bags are loaded.

Fwiw, 'stiv', a Mensa MVP award winning individual who hangs out at an equally smart sounding board (Extreme Deviation Automatic Price Targeting - "X_DEV") PM'd the correct answer to me about 20 minutes after I posted the riddle to your attention.

Fortunately, in his haste, he somehow neglected to read the small print and post his response on the open board and, as a consequence, doesn't get the 25 bux either.

Needles to say, stiv, like mainehiker, will be banned from all future competitions.....

Dan
