Wahz, I think it's a matter of scale. I don't mean to suggest that the ultimate result will be different ... only that the rate at which it occurs and the slope of the fall will differ.

The chart you pointed to covers about 3 years. I'm thinking in terms of a week or so.

The 1987 tumble resulted in a selling climax on a very bad Monday. Many expected the same thing on July 22nd. My note suggests a reason. I don't question that we're being licked by a bear, I merely commenting on the pace of its progress.
