2D Barcodes & Banking...
http://achieverblog.standardbank.co.za/node/5
What is the 2D barcode all about?
You may have noticed the 2D barcode (or QR Code) on some of the Standard Bank Achiever Banking advertisements, and if you don’t already know, you’re probably wondering what these little “symbols” are all about.
Standard Bank is all about making the right connections and helping you reach your goals, which is why we’ve included 2D barcodes in our advertisements. If you can make the right connections (figuring out that the 2D barcode is more than a symbol, using your barcode reader to decipher it and visiting the correct website), you could “get ahead” in our competitions and put yourself in line to win some awesome prizes!
What exactly is a 2D barcode?
2D barcodes offer more information than the conventional 1D barcode (which you see on practically all items you can buy) and are a series of graphical symbols that can be read by using optical scanners called Barcode Readers.
How does it work?
Some cell phones have this function and you can also download the software (visit http://www.i-nigma.com/GetReader.asp) which allows you to decipher all the information within the barcode. Simply take a picture of the barcode and the software will zip you off to the relevant URL or email address, where you can find ‘secret’ competition details.
Keep an eye out for the barcodes found in print ads and on a variety of websites that are involved in Standard Bank’s new Achiever Banking campaign. By using a barcode reader, you will have access to information that will take you from where you are to where you want to be.
