I don't think it's that weak. There was a long time that war was coming. Saddam was crafty, a survivor, cept his head pops off when you hang him, who knew?

Saddam had friends, powerful friends and they wanted what he had. Getting caught with the WMD would have meant there was NO chance of getting the country back under his control. Saddam, Russia and China were brewing an alliance that could have swept them into control of the middle east, and much of the world oil supply.

Much of that is me filling in, but they had plans to work together. Documents found during the war exposed that. Now that little alliance could have been interesting. Sliding up to putting the West in a serious disadvantage in WWIII interesting.
