Oct 20 du Pont Conference Call...

The Oct 20 du Pont Conference Call had a section devoted to Ag & Nutrition. ...Most of the discussion related to du Pont per se. The following quotes framed their view of Pioneer Hi-Bred’s competitive position relative to Monsanto:

Seed earnings [for Pioneer Hi-Bred varieties] are expected to improve substantially, reflecting expected market share gains associated with Latin America summer and early safrinha corn sales, early North America corn and soybean sales, Africa and Asia-Pacific sales and early Europe corn sales, and international price and favorable currency, partly offset by base cost of goods sold and growth investments.

Question – Peter Butler: Yeah, good morning. DuPont is waiting on some key approvals from the government on seeds and traits and on your previous conference call, you sounded pretty upbeat on getting some imminent approvals. Have there been delays? Could you handicap the prospects for some of the key approvals you’re waiting on?
Answer – Ellen Kullman: Thanks, Peter. In Optimum AcreMax, we expect the EPA decision to come in a matter of weeks. We’re confident that we’ll receive it, and get that in time for sales in the 2010 growing season.
