Israel will retaliate and should retaliate for the Eqyptian attacks. As usual, the world will urge restraint. When Israel does respond, there will be condenmation for excessive force, and the Islamists will again call Sharon a terrorist. Nothing changes and nothing is learned. Because global cooperation is needed, we will never combat the very real threat of Islamism until the world understands that the threat is not limited to the US and Israel. The threat is truly global, but that's a message that's not getting across either. They've stuck globally against people of all ethnic and religious backrounds, including Muslims. Everyone is at risk.

I have never seen Sharon retaliate against a target that had nothing to do with the original attack, and I have never seen Sharon scramble to justify an attack after the fact.
