Which got me back to yours. I'm rather surprised you got attacked for your religion. There was a time when Lutherans, Catholics, Protestants, Baptists and Jews to name a few all fought on the same side to defeat the Nazis and Japs in WWII.
I'm pretty sure none of our parents and or grandparents were calling each other names in the trenches because of their religion. My dad has told me stories of him fighting along side Baptists during WWII since he was a Catholic. It always amazed me at Xmas when his cards would arrive in the mail and it would be from total strangers that I never knew. He would sit me down and we'd go through the cards and he'd say so and so was this person or that person in the Army.
Sure they came from different backgrounds and religions but they shared a common experience and they never forgot each other years afterwards. Each Xmas the cards were exchanged.
