TSMC says chip sales softening

Wafer sales down

PURE PLAY foundry Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) said in a statement it had noticed a decline in wafer sales in September, compared to August.
TSMC makes chips for a number of important players including Nvidia, Qualcomm, Via, and many others.

Although it increased sales year on year by 22.5 per cent, there was a drop in wafer shipments by one per cent from August.

It described some softening of demand over the last two months, and said if the trend continued, its revenues would decline for its fourth financial quarter.
