Chris -- if it doesn't, as of course it may not, then we'll just continue our rapid transition into a surveillance state on steroids, where each of us will literally be tracked and watched and listened to in real time by machines that never forget (unless somebody wants them to), and which cannot be audited and thus cannot be protected from tapering and creation of false records (by somebody with access) -- enabling a high-tech hyper-fascism, like nothing this world has ever seen, that I believe is precisely a key core objective of the largely hidden/unrecognized true agenda of this current administration and its patrons -- uncontrolled RFID is absolutely critical to that future -- and that future is not 20, or even 10, years away if we don't stop it, including shutting down the use/functionality of RFID past the point of sale
